DEPARTURE
DEPARTURE
She was determined, her jaw was set, and
there was no talking her out of leaving.
I couldn’t help it, tears were rolling down
my cheeks, I wanted to hold her and ask
for more time.
She was oblivious to my feelings. In a
selfish way she was only thinking of
her self.
I had seen this coming but tried to
ignore it. Now I’m paying for living
in denial.
We had one last moment at the doorway,
it was nothing to remember, both of our
minds were on other things.
She was thinking of the future. I was
remembering the past, the closeness and
love we had known. I was brought back
to reality when I heard her say –
Daddy, do you think my training wheels
are on tight enough.
